Overview

As Pricing Specialist you will be responsible for drawing up and following up on quotations for sea, road, and air freight, for regular and ad-hoc shipments for existing and new customers. You will advise customers, the operational teams, and business development on pricing. In addition, you will work closely with our product managers to determine the correct purchasing rates. Additionally, you will be responsible for requesting and issuing origin or destination charges from foreign offices and completing and registering RFQs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Spot Quotes:Offer pricing for specific transportation lanes as requested.
  • Support RFQs, RFPs, and RFIs:Assist in preparing responses to Requests for Quotes, Proposals, and Information.
  • Develop Business Proposals:Create effective business proposals and bid packages.
  • Collaborate with Teams:Work closely with sales and operations teams to understand market trends and seasonality.
  • Maintain Pricing Sheets:Keep pricing sheets updated and accurate for sourcing platforms.
  • Analyze Market Trends:Review market trends and customer demand to inform pricing strategies.
  • Monitor Pricing Performance: Track the effectiveness of pricing strategies and adjust as needed.
  • Challenges within this role:
    • Fuel Price Fluctuations:The unpredictable nature of fuel prices can significantly impact transportation costs
    • Economic Uncertainty:Changes in the economy can affect demand for transportation services, making it difficult to set stable prices.
    • Environmental Regulations:Increasingly stringent emission regulations require investment in cleaner vehicles, which can be costly.
    • Tariffs and Trade Policies:Changes in trade policies and tariffs can affect pricing strategies and operational costs.
    • Digitalization:Adopting and integrating new digital tools and technologies can be challenging but is essential for optimizing pricing strategies
    • Data Management: Handling large volumes of data to inform pricing decisions requires robust systems and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Education:High School Diploma or GED; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Experience:2+ years in an analytical role, preferably in logistics or international transportation.
  • Knowledge:Familiarity with transportation terminology, operational equipment, tariffs, rates, and commodities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), strong analytical skills, excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Cargowise experience beneficial
  • Fluent oral and written English is a must, Dutch is beneficial
  • Technical Skills:
  • Data Analysis:Proficiency in analyzing large datasets to identify trends and make informed pricing decisions
  • Market Research:Ability to conduct thorough market research to understand competitor pricing and market dynamics.
  • Financial Acumen:Strong understanding of financial principles to develop pricing models that maximize profitability
  • Technological Proficiency:Familiarity with pricing software and tools to streamline pricing processes and improve accuracy.
